Get acquainted with Jazz Vocalists Kelly Ash and Susan Platt and usher in the first week of August to the Jazz & More forum.
Kelly Ash performs as a vocalist in the Seattle area venturing into many diverse styles ranging from Brazilian, Soul, R&B and Pop all the way to Contemporary and Jazz standards. Her active bands include,
Nearly Dan, ~ Insatiable Minds, ~ The Swingin 60’s and Discs of Fury
a wide scope of affiliations that moves her deftly from Steely Dan and Sinatra inspired arrangements to Big Band jazz standards and medieval rock opera originals.
Originally from Des Moines- Iowa, Kelly studied at the School for Music Vocations and finished at Seattle’s Cornish College of the Arts, where she earned a Bachelors of Music degree in Vocal Jazz Performance.
Currently, she performs in the local music scene and teaches private lessons and classes in Seattle.
Susan Platt began playing the violin at the age of five and by fourteen was accepted to attend the Curtis Institute of Music and later graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy in music and theater. She has experience teaching violin and voice in a private studio and currently plays with the Billings Symphony Orchestra and the Intermountain Opera Orchestra.
In the last 17 years Susan has developed the fine art of singing jazz, studying with Nancy King and Madeline Eastman. She is currently studying jazz violin in Bozeman where she lives with her husband and also has two sons, Adam and Alex who are professional jazz musicians.
