We extend a warm welcome to Maestro Matthew Savery of the Bozeman Symphony to end the month of August here at Jazz & More.

Now in his seventeenth season, Savery is Music Director of the Bozeman Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Choir, Music Director of the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra and enjoys a rapidly expanding reputation for his multi-faceted career as an electrifying performer, dedicated orchestra builder and charismatic teacher.

In addition to his duties with the Bozeman Symphony, where his innovative subscription, family and children’s programming earns consistent praise – and sold-out houses, Matthew regularly offers the state’s schools a “Conductor in Residency” program that accounts for dozens of hours per school year. He is much in demand as both a competition adjudicator and an in-school clinician and has guest conducted throughout the region onThe Nutcracker with the Montana Ballet and on Damn Yankees, Annie and Guys and Dolls with Montana Theatre works. Until 1999, Mr. Savery also served five seasons as Music Director of the Butte Symphony Orchestra and Chorale.

Matthew will be joined by Bozeman Symphony concertmaster, Carrie Krause on baroque violin, and John Lenti on the Therobo, a lute family instrument. Both will perform folksy, fresh and virtuosic works from the baroque era. Specializing in period performance, the duo will improvise on a violin and guitar from the time of Bach. John and Carrie also perform with the I-90 Collective, a chamber ensemble which performs Seattle Baroque and Pazzamezzo Moderno coast to coast.
